      look up Festool’s “Domino Joiner”, they use solid hardwood “domino” shaped biscuits and are just as strong as a traditional mortise and tenon.

      The gule joint is very strong especially with modern glues love joinery but they do help tremendously in alligning things and biscuits dont provide strength but unfortunately its not always practical to use.
      The gule joint is difficult when gluing up panels the gule joint is difficult when gluing up panels the best way.

      dowels or biscuits provide no mechanical strength whatsoever.the idealjoints would have been rabbet or dado.
